...sickness the past few days in my family. We went away to my sister’s house on Lake Norman this past weekend to enjoy family and the weather. In the end we didn't get to enjoy either of these things. We were pretty much sick the entire weekend and that kept most of the family away. So we traveled 3 hours away to be sick in my sister’s home. On the surface, I would question the Lord's providence (or at least His point) in all this. But on the return trip home, Kindra and I began talking how this might be a snapshot of what life will be like for us in the near future once we move our family overseas. Getting used to new food, new germs, new viruses...all in a place that we are not familiar with. We definitely saw some parallels. Through this entire season of our lives, we have seen the Lord providentially working for our good...even in sickness. The Lord teaches in and through pain, so we are always wanting to learn well the first time so He doesn't have to keep teaching us the same things! He is first and last in our family...in sickness and in pain...no matter where we are.
